Blood Pressure Check

Patients without Diabetes

Before you take your blood pressure reading:

  • Sit down comfortably for 5 minutes. You should not have had recent caffeine or exercise.
  • Wear loose-fitting clothing.
  • Make sure your arm is around the same level as your heart.
  • Make sure your arm is relaxed.

When taking your blood pressure:

  • Put the cuff on following the instructions which came with your blood pressure monitor.
  • Keep still and silent.
  • You can see a video with instructions at this link.

Other tips:

  • Take at least three readings, each two minutes apart.
  • Your first reading may be much higher than the next readings. If this is the case, keep taking readings until they level out.
  • Use the lowest reading on the form below.

Your Blood Pressure needs further investigation.

Your answers suggest you should be investigated for a possible new diagnosis of High Blood Pressure. In order to do this please click on the following link to be taken to the “Blood Pressure Pathway” on the New Forest PCN website.

We are undertaking this search for new cases of High Blood Pressure as a group of practices. Depending on the result of readings done at home you may then be invited to come into the practice for further investigations. Click Here to start the process.

Ensure you have checked the warning box on this page to make sure more urgent action is not required.

Your Blood Pressure looks great.

If you have had a text message requesting a reading then please follow the link on that message to submit your result. This is the most efficient process for the surgery as the result will go straight through to your record.

Alternatively, you can submit your reading using the form below.
