Coronavirus Vaccine Update 16/01/21

Wistaria & Milford Surgeries has been delivering the Covid-19 Vaccination Programme, both in Care / Nursing homes and at our Vaccination Centre at Milford Memorial Hospital, since 22nd December 2020.   By the end of this weekend 24th January we will have offered all patients who are over 80 and are able to attend an appointment at Milford War Memorial Hospital.

We will then start inviting in the 75-79 age groups and intend to vaccinate all over 70 year olds by mid-February.

For those under 80, to see where you are in the priority groups, please visit: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/950113/jcvi-advice-on-priority-groups-for-covid-19-vaccination-30-dec-2020-revised.pdf .

Stock is being allocated to each area with very little notice, so we are unable to plan and book patients in more than a few days in advance. Therefore, if you have not been invited yet, please remain patient and do not worry – we will get to you. Our invitations are being sent out via SMS text to those with mobile phones or via an e mail link.  If we do not have a mobile number for you or an e mail address then our staff will contact you by telephone and will organise your appointment directly with you.

The Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) has opened as a mass vaccination site.

This will greatly help with the mass roll out of vaccinations in the surrounding area. This site will be an additional option for some of our patients who can travel.

If you are invited to attend the BIC via an NHS letter, you can choose to go there or choose to wait for an invite from the practice. If you already have an appointment for your vaccine at Milford War Memorial Hospital and have received a letter offering the option of the BIC, this does not change your appointment here. If you choose to attend the BIC, please let us know so that we may use your appointment for other patients.

Again, please do not worry we will work down through the age groups to anyone who is 50 or over the next  three months and update our website with more information.

Thank you for your patience.

Jan Lamont, Practice Manager
