Adult Vaccinations

To learn more about specific vaccinations click on the links below.

Pneumococcal Vaccination (ages 65 and over)

This is a one off vaccination to protect against various pneumococcal infections. This reduces your risk of pneumonia but also some forms of meningitis and blood poisoning. This vaccination is strongly recommended.

You can read more about this vaccination on the NHS website here.

If you are aged 65 and over and do not think you have had this vaccination then you can submit the “adult vaccinations” form on our Klinik page to request an appointment or you can book online.

Shingles Vaccination (ages 70-79)

Shingles vaccinations are available to those aged 70-79. Once you turn 80 you are no longer able to have this vaccination on the NHS.

This vaccination helps reduce the risk of developing Shingles which is a painful rash caused by the reactivation of the Chicken Pox virus. The rash can be very painful and some people are left with chronic pain so the vaccine is strongly recommended to reduce the risk of this.

You can read more about this vaccination on the NHS website here.

The best vaccine is a live vaccine which is a one-off injection. If you cannot have live vaccines due to your medication or medical history then a non-live vaccine is available. The non-live version requires two doses 8 weeks apart.

If you are aged 70-79 and do not think you have had this vaccination then you can submit the “adult vaccinations” form on our Klinik page to request an appointment or you can book online.
