Your Next Poo Could Save Your Life!
If you have been sent a bowel cancer screening kit, put it by the loo, don’t put it off! – Bowel cancer screening – NHS
Comprehensive use of FIT in symptomatic patients (meaning showing symptoms, or it may concern a specific symptom) is critical to improving bowel cancer survival in England, ensuring patients on the lower GI pathway can be diagnosed promptly and that available colonoscopy capacity is used in the most effective way. Even if you are not showing signs, it is still important to get your poo tested.
Bowel cancer screening is currently offered to everyone aged 54 to 74 every 2 years. It will soon be offered to everyone aged 50 to 74, so you may be sent a home test kit now if you’re aged 50 or over.
If you have received a test through the post, don’t delay and send off today!
Our surgery currently shows as having below 75% LGI suspected cancer referrals accompanied by a FIT result. Therefore we are encouraging patients to carry out their cancer screening test.
