Eligible people will now be offered a COVID vaccine from 11th September, in line with the latest expert guidance on the new COVID variant.

  • Vaccinations will begin on 11 September for those most at risk, including adult care home residents and people who are immunosuppressed.
  • From 18 September, the NHS will start to invite people in priority order of risk and those eligible will be able to book an appointment on the National Booking Service.

HOW WILL THIS WORK PRACTICALLY FOR YOU?

Seasonal flu vaccinations – please keep your booked appointment, we will not be co-administering COVID autumn boosters at the large vaccination clinics, as we will not have stock of covid.

We will be co-administering covid along with seasonal flu in our care homes, as NHS England have asked for this to be our priority.

Patients who would like to have a COVID booster vaccination can attend at our PCN designated site on Saturdays (Chawton House Surgery in Lymington) or at a local Pharmacy who has signed up for this service.  You can book at Chawton House or a local pharmacy in the following ways –

We are hoping to have a small amount of COVID vaccine and run some clinics from Milford Medical Centre for those patients who cannot travel.  Once we have confirmation of vaccine and can organise dates, eligible patients will be sent a booking link direct from the Practice.  This will not be until October, please do not telephone reception about this, as they will not be able to book you in.

Who is eligible for a COVID autumn booster ?

  • residents and staff working in a care home for older adults
  • all adults aged 65 years and over –
  • persons aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk groups.
  • frontline health and social care workers
  • Persons aged 12 to 64 years who are household contacts of people with immunosuppression.
  • persons aged 16 to 64 years who are carer.

I hope you find this information helpful; we are working hard to vaccinate as many patients as possible and as quickly as possible before the Winter. Weekend clinics are being run in order to minimise disruption to weekday appointments.
